Rivers:
Animas River
A tributary of the San Juan River. The Headwaters originate in the San Juan Mountains at the confluence of the west and north forks at the ghost town of Animas. The river runs through Durango, Colorado. From Durango the river runs south into New Mexico through the town of Aztec to its confluence with the San Juan River in Farmington
Fish species: Wild Rainbow and Brown Trout

Chama River
A tributary to the Rio Grande River. The Headwaters originate just over the border of New Mexico in the high country of the San Juan Mountains. The river enters the state at Cumbres Pass. The Chama flows over 120 miles through El Vado and Abiquiu Lakes. The river joins the Rio Grande near Espanola.
Fish species- Rainbow and Brown Trout

Shore fishing conditions: Good above Chama - access through Sargent Wilderness
Trout: Fair to good

Shore fishing conditions: Good - The flows are increased on weekends for rafting, but El Vado is full and release is ongoing

San Juan River
A tributary of the Colorado River. The river is Approximately 400 miles long, Headwaters originate in southern Colorado in the San Juan Mountains. The river flows south through Colorado, then turns west in New Mexico continuing on through Utah and into Lake Powell where it joins the Colorado. The San Juan River below Navajo Dam is rated as one of the best tail waters in the country, providing excellent opportunities for trophy trout!
